Ergin İnan

Born in Malatya in 1943, Ergin İnan entered the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University in 1963, then won the Painting Department of the Istanbul Applied Fine Arts High School (today Marmara University) in 1964 and graduated in 1968. The artist started working as an assistant at the school in the same year. In 1969, he studied painting in the studio of Emilio Vedova at the Salzburg Summer Academy on a scholarship. From this period, he started to be interested in Mevlana and his teachings and produced works in many fields such as painting, collage, drawing and sculpture. The "insect" forms that he started to make in the same years are almost like the signature of the artist today. The artist became a professor at the Istanbul Applied Fine Arts High School in 1985, and gave drawing lessons as a visiting professor at the Berlin Fine Arts High School between 85-86. Ergin İnan, whose works are in many private and public collections around the world, State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition Award (1974-75), International Graphic Biennial Medal, Frechen- Germany (1980), International Miniature Biennial Exhibition Award, Seoul, Korea (1982), International Norwegian Printing Biennial Grand Prize (1983), Sedat Simavi Foundation Visual Arts Award (1983), Ankara Art Institute Artist of the Year Award (1987), II. He is the owner of many awards, including the first prize of the International Asia-Europe Biennial (1988), the third prize of the International Painting Triennial - Japan (1993), the Presidential Culture and Art Grand Award (2010).
