Ozan ÜNAL

The artist, who started his art career with the Department of Graphics at Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Faculty (İzmir), left this department unfinished and moved on to the Fashion and Accessories department of the same faculty. He represented Turkey at the SAGA International Design Center Young Designer Seminar in Denmark. She founded the Atelier Pi Design and Art Workshop in Karsiyaka, Izmir in 2001.

In his figurative sculptures made using iron and concrete, Ünal focuses on the different emotions and states of people in society. The artist, who is a strong representative of today's Turkish sculpture art in the figurative context, expresses the production dynamic with these words; “I lived, I thought, I felt, I scribbled and I did… Until these times when I couldn't live without doing this; whether hungry or full, good or bad; I always scribbled something while I was asleep or awake. I boiled it, poured it out, and then I poured the things that were swirling around in my head. I was looking for something; a language; a hope that I can get along with people like me; a point about what we are not all about; which I hope we have overlooked”.
