Ramazan BAYRAKOĞLU

The artist, who completed his undergraduate education at the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylül University (İzmir) between 1984-88 and his graduate education at the same university between 1988-90, was appointed as an assistant to the same department in 1989 and became an Assistant Professor in 1992. The works of Ramazan Bayrakoğlu, one of the productive and important names of Contemporary Turkish Art, are in many important collections such as Istanbul Modern Collection, Elgiz Museum Collection, Ahmet Kabakçı Collection, Canan Pak Collection and Füsun Eczacıbaşı Collection. The artist works with Gallery Lelong in France. Bayrakoğlu continues his life and art works in İzmir.

Ramazan Bayrakoğlu, known for his photo-realistic figure paintings that resemble photography at first glance, aims to leave a photographic and cinematographic mark on his portraits by using different materials such as fabric and plexiglass. In his works, the artist sometimes creates a dramatic and sometimes ironic atmosphere, sometimes starting from a photograph he took himself, from magazines, and sometimes from a film frame.
