Ayşegül Kurtel graduated from Ege University (İzmir) Faculty of Pharmacy, and then (İzmir) Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department. Kurtel, who completed his master's degree at the same institution, worked as a lecturer at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts for about ten years. Kurtel, who established the K2 Contemporary Art Center in 2002 to realize international projects where different artistic disciplines are exhibited together, has given conferences in Turkey, USA, Germany, Italy and Iran. Ayşegül Kurtel was awarded the "Knight of Arts and Letters Medal" by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication in 2011. Continuing his life in Izmir, Kurtel is one of the partners of A Gallery, which is active in Izmir Alsancak.
