We interviewed Umur Türker in his home workshop about his works that developed in the triangle of relationships, memories and art.

It was a sunny Izmir afternoon, we went to the home studio of Umur Hodja in Izmir to shoot. What a welcome we were. Umur Hoca, who is the teacher of many artists in İzmir, is my teacher from my proficiency in art (doctoral) period. He has always been a kind, gentle soul, sensitive to life. He approached the shooting and us with the same sensitivity. We started our conversation by talking about the years of Ankara, Paris, İzmir and the effects of Türker on his art.

Experience and knowledge are very important for an artist. When combined with creativity, it goes to different places. Umur Türker, who is one of the successful and productive representatives of figurative painting, is known for his expressionist figures who meet in the dilemma of logic and emotion in his works where the feeling of melancholy is intense. Relationships between men and women, troubles in life are reflected in the mood of the figures in their paintings. We should not forget the "Swallow" series that he has been working on recently. Contrary to the melancholy in his other works, he gives hope and life energy to the audience with the colors used and his dynamic compositional setup.

Although Hodja Umur is happy to live and produce in İzmir, he expressed his sadness that there is not much art consumption in İzmir and that the existing galleries are closed. We talked a lot about it, our feelings were the same.
